I have been the Animatronic Effects Supervisor for the AFLAC Insurance "Duck" commercials since the introduction of the character in 1999. I included two close-ups here as a tribute to the great crew I had. Together we generated the original three puppets in three and a half weeks. Pat Rummans handled all the feather work and developed many innovative solutions. Jason Matthews took care of all the artwork. Rich Haugen and Jeff Edwards tackled the animatronics and rigging. Jessica Serna, a hair-stylist, was brought on the team to whiten the color of the feathers. For subsequent spots additional puppets were fabricated for specific performance requirerments.
